This content was updated on November 9, 2018, and on November 25, 2019 with updated Black Friday and Cyber Monday dates, and search terms insights.

The most wonderful time of the year has arrived! The holidays are just around the corner, which means that the shopping season starts. Actually, it starts with Black Friday. Black Friday is the unofficial beginning of the shopping season and it is known for its own special, somewhat extreme, deals.

Did you know that it has been famous for its deals since 1952? Yes, it is almost older than a lot of us. So, ladies and gentlemen, get ready and buy that one thing you wanted so badly. This time with a HUGE discount.

Oh, when is it you say? Black Friday 2019 date is on November 29th. But don’t worry; if one day wasn’t enough to buy everything you wanted, you will get a second chance on Cyber Monday which is on December 2nd. For those who want to buy technological items or software programs, Cyber Monday is your day! Actually, rumor has it that even some Fashion brands will have special deals on clothes on Cyber Monday.

We can’t tell where you can find better deals, on Black Friday or on Cyber Monday, because it depends on what you want or who you are.

You could be a shopper who wants a dress, or you could be a retailer who wants to sell more than on an ordinary day. As we said, it really depends depends, but yes, as you can see below Black Friday is far more popular:

Yes, Black Friday is not only great for shoppers. If you are an online retailer, it can be a very happy (and busy) day for you too.

Be sure that you have the right strategies in place, because you might receive record sales on overshoot your Black Friday targets.

These search terms show that the consumers really know what they’re into while writing down something that is related to Black Friday.

Are You A Smart Consumer or A Smarter Retailer?

Did you know that less than 50 percent of the world has internet access and 50 percent of the consumers use the internet to compare products, their quality, and prices? Officially, every one of us has the power of being a smart consumer.

If there is a population of smart consumers, there must be a population of smart retailers too, who know that the consumers are online now! We surely know that retailers increasingly shift their focus to e-commerce, but on the other hand, the vast majority of retail sales still have old school style referred to as brick-and-mortar.

Black Friday Data

According to the annual survey by the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics, 44% of consumers went online and 40% of consumers shopped in-store in 2017. The expectation was that 164 million people would do their shoppings during the Thanksgiving weekend in the U.S. 14% year-on-year increase was being predicted on Black Friday sales. In 2017, the most popular online-shopping day was Black Friday.

Let’s Narrow the Angle!

Not that much of the angle though; let’s talk about Black Friday in Turkey!

Searches for “Black Friday discounts” in Turkey increased by 750% between 2014 and 2016, and “Black Friday Turkey” searches have increased by 300%. Also searches for “Cyber Monday Discounts” in 2015 went up by 74%, compared to 2014.

Black Friday is an amazing opportunity not to be ignored by marketers, agencies, and brands. If you are one of these three, you should begin reviewing your last year's data and impressions to make sure you don't miss out on this opportunity. Consider transferring budget to the campaigns that can potentially generate more revenue than less efficient ones.

The Amazon of Turkey:

The major Turkish online store Hepsiburada also has the famous Black Friday deals and their discounts really make shoppers happy. Instead of saying Black Friday, Hepsiburada prefers to call it “Efsane Cuma”, which is translated into “Legendary Friday”.

Kubix Digital on Case-Study-Duty in 2016: Our Client Mavi's Black Friday sensation in Turkey

Black Friday is not the “hottest” sales season like the way it is in the U.S.A or Europe. Okay, it’s more known than in the last years, but still guarding its unknown side.

We’ve already known that Mavi would do great on Black Friday because search query volumes were increasing for “Black Friday” in Turkey within last years. Maybe not everyone was talking about Black Friday or waiting for it, but a lot of people were searching for it and we thought that Black Friday would be a good chance having huge sales success for Mavi.

So Mavi put its guard on and made its e-commerce team get prepared for a “25% Off Deal on ALL Products” offer. That offer was really a big deal, because of a normally non-sale season, so Mavi announced its offer on the webpage and we, at Kubix Digital had a strong PPC strategy in place. Hashtag good team, hashtag perfect match.

Did we achieve with a 1-DAY campaign on Black Friday? We R-O-C-K-e-d and R-O-L-L-e-d it!

Mavi has not only made a big sale, also helped us to create an awareness of Black Friday in Turkey in 2016.

Wish You the Best Friday Ever!

We know that all of you’ve already searched for Black Friday deals and discounts as we see that search volumes have increased marvelously. Anyway, spoken words fly away, written words remain. Here are the links that you should definitely check out:

If you know other offers, you can make a comment below this blog post and let every Black-Friday-lover know.

P.S.: A lot of brands will announce their offers one week before Black Friday. Don’t forget to check your favorite retailer’s webpage, also Mavi’s!
