Meet Halide Ebcinoglu - Kubixer Interview Series

Meet Halide (aka Holly): a woman that, as a young girl, wanted to become something else every day; from politician, to professor, doctor, and even astronaut. She landed her first part-time job when she was 16 and hasn’t stopped working ever since. She was a papergirl, worked as a cashier at a department store, as a sales assistant, factory worker - but an internship at a European Commission Holland & United Nations project in New York was what influenced her career path. From that moment she knew that working in an international environment with ‘diverse and nice people’ was what she wanted. Her plan was therefore to work at a big international organization or NGO where she could change the world in a positive way and impact other people’s lives. But: after working for Google she discovered the digital marketing industry, where she especially enjoys search marketing; doing research and learning new things, analyzing people’s behavior, and questioning right and wrong, moved to Gibraltar to work at another online business, and in 2005 found her dream job at Google Dublin.

How does a typical day at the office look like for you?

First of all I get up at 7 every day, prepare Ela for school and when she is out of home at 8, I have my routine morning walk in the park.

First thing what I do when I’m online is checking the industry news and trends on the blogs I follow and of course Twitter is keeping me updated every morning. Also during the day I check it when I have my 5 minute breaks between my to-do’s.

My daily work mainly consists of analyzing and understanding my clients search data and performance, applying optimization processes, defining strategies and work on the strategic planning.

I also love to be together with my team and discuss with them about account issues, problems or plans. This is why I spend a lot of time on slack, asana, mails to make sure that my team needs every support from me they need.

Morning time is my most efficient time of the day where I can get a lot of work done. I usually use this time to work on my to-do list. The afternoons are used mainly for my optimization work, analysis and planning. And the evening times...If you think, I go to bed early, you are wrong! After Ela goes to sleep at 9pm, my creative time starts. During that time I usually work on my blog posts, self-marketing, content marketing, social media planning etc. And sometimes if I have my glass of wine in the evenings, there is no limit my creativity :)

What are some of the projects you are currently working on?

At the moment, I look after our international clients and work on their Google Ads and SEO projects. Muzzy BBC, London School of English, Mavi Germany are just a few to name here.

I also manage projects for some of our key accounts like Turk Telekom, KIA and Oleg Cassini.

Although I have experience in Google Ads management for over 14 years, I do love SEO as well and prefer working on projects where we offer our paid and organic search marketing service together.
