Meet Irem Yilmaz - Kubixer Interview Series

Meet Irem: a girl that wanted to become a vet when she was 5 (because of her love for animals), an orthodontist when she was 10 (because of her braces), and a writer in the last year of elementary school - and from that day on, she never stopped writing. Her first few jobs, therefore, was as an editor, copywriter, and content writer. She discovered her love for digital marketing after realizing that 'writing' alone isn't making her happy; she was curious about search behaviors as well. Writing, researching, trying to understand people's behavior, technical stuff; these were the things that are feeding her curiosity and how she found herself in search marketing.

How does a typical day at the office look like for you?

I am always coming to the office early because I need to get myself ready to work with a full concentration. The first thing that I do is checking my e-mails and answering them. Second, I review my client’s Google Ads account to control if something is wrong, and so on. After that, I set the daily priorities to myself and start working on them.

What are some of the projects you are currently working on?

Now SEO for KIA & for Oleg Cassini, Google Ads for Plaza Cubes, content marketing for Kubix Digital, Instagram account management for Women.Digital and also helping with Women.Digital’s new website process.

Give 3 words to describe working at Kubix.

What is the coolest thing about your job?

To analyze user behavior, for sure!

What is your biggest accomplishment at work?

In my first year here at Kubix Digital, I was nominated for Young Search Professional of the Year at the European Search Awards 2018. That was a huge thing for me and I am still very proud of it.

What is your greatest strength in your job?

I am a responsible and hard-working person who has good communication skills. And I believe in happiness. These 4 are my greatest strengths in life, not only in my job.

What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?

Everybody should take the first step to start loving themselves, at least at one point in their lives. Then the sequel will come. Seriously, this is one of the important steps in life. I believe it’s going to become a better world if everybody starts loving themselves first.

What’s the most naughty thing you did as a child?

I was always bringing caterpillars into my room and feeding them - until mom found them.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

What’s one thing about you that surprises people?

My age, I guess. People still think I am not older than 20.

What’s one item you want to own, that you don’t?

Range Rover or Rubicon.

Last: What is something that you are proud of?

I’m proud of being patient. Job or non-job related, I’ve had lots of experience that made me disappointed or upset at some reasonable level, but I never ever cheated. I always think and repeat "this damned thing is only 0,00000000000000001 of your life. You don’t have to cheat or be a bad person. Being patient is your answer."
